As we wrap up 2023, we find ourselves reflecting on months past and what lies ahead with our community’s journey. If you recall, our Personal and Professional Development Coach, Michael “Buck” Buckley. Challenged us to pick a “Word of the Year” in January 2023. Buck asked us to look inward and consider what we need more of or what might improve our lives. The time has come to revisit our Word of the Year for 2023 and explore its impact on Vitalia Stow. Whether you’ve been an active member or are just joining us, this retrospective journey invites us all to celebrate the past year.
Our community Word of the Year for 2023 was teamwork. We achieved many successes throughout the year, living in line with our word and improving the community. The culinary department experienced a greater stabilization in staffing and improved many aspects of food quality. Resident Services upped their outing game. By taking our residents from all three levels on new and exciting adventures in the greater community.
Our business office is proud of our improved orientation program. Also, the team has supported this with their attention and dedication. The leadership team supported sales in driving towards occupancy and has taken ownership of the community’s vibrancy. Plant Operations has been fine-tuning the material needs of the building. Also, improving the health of the building through Life Safety. Memory Care and the Wellness department in assisted living are finishing the year with increased occupancy and a sense of community! The directors coming together as a team drive these initiatives to fruition.
Vitalia Stow has lived out the word “teamwork” by its leaders emerging out of their silos and coming together to make the community come together as a whole. Staff is more unified, and overall service has improved.
For 2024, we are excited to keep the momentum through teamwork to mark our progress and drive it further to bigger and better things for our community!
As we bid farewell to 2023, we will carry forward the essence of our Word of the Year into 2024. The successes and strides of our community, the embodiment of our chosen word in our collective actions, are not just markers in time but a testament to the strength of this community. I look forward to catching our 2024 Word of the Year blog soon!
