Vitalia Senior Residences at Stow Shares a Note of Gratitude

Category: Senior Living

Author: Karra Charles, Executive Director

The past year has been our most unique one yet! Our department heads have done a great job on employee retention and making sure the residents are taken care of. In Wellness, we focused on working on getting agency out and utilizing our own staff, even with open shifts. In Resident Services, we worked on more outside events and activities that engage residents to their interest. In Culinary, Vitalia Senior Residences at Stow focused on employee retention and quality of the menu for all areas. Memory Care is our thriving department that is focusing on completing our 11 steps to our memory care roll out in our Neighborhood. For our Administration department, our Business Office Director worked on employee morale and helped get those interviews hired. Our Plant Operations department is busy as always with completing resident requests and making our community cleaner and brighter.

We have lots of exciting memories with our families the past year! Our one main event we had at the community was celebrating our Assisted Living. We threw a huge party for our independent living, assisted living, and memory care residents and families with live entertainment, buffet style foods in the community, and games for everyone to enjoy. It was such a lovely event to see everyone come together to celebrate Vitalia. We celebrated Assisted Living Week for all residents and families to join. Every day during the week, we celebrated each department in our community by doing fun games and of course having fabulous food for everyone to enjoy. Our Resident Services celebrate all big and small events.

Thank you to my department heads for always being a team together and supporting each other when we need an extra hand. Theresa, our Resident Service Director, wears many hats around the community. Not only does she entertain everyone, but she is also our number one team player in helping every department. If Theresa has a hundred other things she’s doing, she’ll stop to make sure to see if you need help. If you do, she’ll stop what she’s doing to help with a huge smile. Dave, our Culinary Director, knows how to make light of any hard situation. He sees the positive, even if it feels like there isn’t one. Dave will make any accommodations needed to help departments and residents.

Kaitlynn, our Memory Care Director, is our “to-go” girl for anything electronic or any help that we cannot figure out on the computer. If it wasn’t for Kaitlynn, we would not know how to use many apps or navigate through Dropbox. Sue, our Business Office Director, will always make sure you are taken care of in each department. She will go the extra mile to help department heads with staffing. She has even gone on the floor to assist culinary help serve and bus tables. Katrese, our Director of Wellness, will make sure every employee and department head is mentally and physically doing okay. If any problem comes up, Katrese will make sure the staff is taken care of and happy. She’s a huge advocate for employees!

Molly, our Operations Coordinator, will remind everyone of every little thing. It’s the best. We wouldn’t know what to do without her. I can count on her to make sure nothing goes missed. Thank you, Molly! Anne, our Senior Living Director, will help any department when it comes to residents. She has such a big heart to make sure everything goes smoothly for the resident and family. We truly count on Anne for our everyday operations. Jeremy, our Plant Operations Assistant, has stepped up and helped us out when we needed him. Residents say nothing but positive comments on his work. Thank you, Jeremy, for making Vitalia strong.

Bayada Home Health and Fox Therapy, we cannot thank enough for the support to our residents in all areas. They will always make sure and follow up with residents and family members to see if they can assist with anything. Thank you to Traditions Hospice for going above and beyond, not with just hospice care, but supporting us with activities and education for our residents and staff.

Vitalia Stow has exciting things coming up for 2023! Our goal is to focus on employee retention in all departments and resident engagement in independent living, assisted living and memory care. In 2023, we plan on focusing on bringing back our monthly Sunday Brunches that our families can attend, with each month a different theme. We are focusing on making our Wellness Wednesdays, not just for our residents and staff, but for our families to come in and meet all our vendors we offer in house. Vitalia Stow will be holding events for education for our families and residents throughout the year. We will focus on more community events and getting our residents out to share our wonderful smiles and goodies we have!
