Acknowledging Small Businesses

Category: Culture & Traditions

Author: Katie Metzger, Executive Director

At Vitalia Stow, we love small businesses. And honestly, most large businesses started out small at some point. Even Arrow Senior Living, our management company, began as a small business called Turn-Around Solutions. The original vision was simple. Step into a community for six to twelve months, get everything running smoothly, and then move on to the next. That story is for another time, but it reminds us how something small can grow into something incredible.

When we say we love small businesses, we truly mean it. Behind each one is someone’s dream, risk, and hard work. That is something we feel proud to support.

Showing Up for Small Businesses

This Small Business Day, our teams hit the streets through Creative Follow-Ups and intentional support. Each department head selected a local business. Together, as a company, we showed up for more than 350 small businesses. Saying that out loud still feels incredible.

What may seem like a small act can make a big impact. Our teams did more than stop in. They made purchases, left thoughtful gifts, wrote Google reviews, and shared their experiences on social media. These simple actions created meaningful connections and gave back to the communities that support us every day.

Building Local Connections

Supporting local businesses remains a personal priority. Today, convenience often replaces connection. However, local businesses create meaningful, in-person experiences that build relationships and strengthen the community. Choosing local reflects a commitment to the people who shape the place we call home.

An employee at a local business holds up a gift from Vitalia Stow Senior Residences.

The Vitalia Stow team highlighted a diverse group of businesses making a positive impact. This included restaurants like Poke and Roll and One Love Jamaican Kitchen, Xtreme Performance for auto services, and Quarter Up Arcade for entertainment. Each one stands out for its quality service and positive experiences.

Throughout the year, the team continues to build these relationships. By engaging with local services and staying connected, they create a stronger sense of community. Partnerships grow, referrals happen naturally, and support flows both ways.

Supporting small businesses is not just a one-day effort. It is part of how we show up every day. These businesses are the heart of our neighborhoods. Building these relationships creates deeper connections for our residents, our teams, and the people we serve. As you read through the highlights from our community, we hope you feel the same excitement and pride. Because when we support local, we invest in people, in dreams, and in the place we call home.
