National Assisted Living Week is a special time when assisted living communities come alive with celebrations that bring residents together. It’s a chance to share stories, make memories, and enjoy events that show the strong bond among residents, caregivers, and families. This year, the theme is Season of Reflection. This week makes our residents and staff feel special, that we celebrate and acknowledge how important everyone is to our community.
At Vitalia Stow, we are honoring residents’ lives and experiences starting on Sunday, September 10th with a Grandparents Day Brunch. Susan Canavinno is scheduled for a 40s fashion presentation on Monday, followed by a “Going Back to1940s Party.” Tuesday we’ll crank up the music with a 50s Name That Tune, followed by trivia and root beer floats. The 60s find their way to the community on Wednesday with a Tie Dye Party and pet rock painting. Thursday we will recreate the 70s TV game show Let’s Make a Deal. We’ll start our morning on Friday jammin’ to Richard Simmons, followed by our 80s Happy Hour that afternoon.
As the Resident Services Director, I am most excited about thinking how much our residents and staff will enjoy the events. I love having all the department heads come together as a team and having fun with our residents and staff. Taking the time to celebrate National Assisted Living Week is important because we should reflect on all the changes through the years.
It’s not only a time to celebrate, but also an opportunity to appreciate the staff and volunteers who make assisted living communities what they are today! This week highlights the power of connections, memories, and the spirit of togetherness that makes every resident feel at home.
Join us as we dive into the Season of Reflection with heartwarming stories, exciting events, and the wonderful sense of community that make National Assisted Living Week a truly special occasion. You can follow along throughout the week by viewing our posts on the Vitalia Stow Facebook page.
