As Culinary Director at Vitalia Stow, I approach each day with passion, not just purpose. I face new challenges, hear fresh stories, and find new reasons to feel grateful. I’m excited to share how I arrived in this role, what fuels my dedication, and what a typical day looks like in our community. My work goes beyond preparing meals—it focuses on building connections, creating purpose, and making a real difference where it counts.
I chose senior living because I wanted to bring the quality and creativity of fine dining into a setting where meals significantly impact quality of life. Every day, I have the opportunity to create meaningful experiences through food, and that is incredibly rewarding.
My background in fine dining, especially my time at Thyme2, shaped the way I lead today. That fast-paced, upscale environment instilled in me a commitment to culinary excellence, high service standards, and thoughtful leadership. I learned to develop menus, maintain strict quality control, and manage complex kitchen operations.
Now, in senior living, I apply those skills to lead culinary teams, manage budgets, and deliver elevated dining experiences that focus equally on nutrition and enjoyment. The transition has been seamless—and deeply fulfilling.
What I love most about this industry is the chance to make an impact. Food plays a vital role in residents’ lives. Being able to bring joy, comfort, and dignity through each meal is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Each morning, I check in with my team and walk through the kitchen and dining areas. This quick walkthrough helps me assess readiness, ensure cleanliness, and connect personally with both staff and residents. It sets a hands-on, positive tone that carries through the day.
To anyone considering a culinary career in senior living, I say: come in with an open heart. This field is about more than food—it’s about relationships. If you lead with compassion, stay adaptable, and truly care about people, you’ll find this work incredibly meaningful.
For me, success means our residents are well-fed, happy, and feel cared for. It’s seeing my team work together, responding to challenges, and creating meals that bring true joy. When both staff and residents end the day feeling valued, I know I’ve done my job well.
At the end of the day, I take the greatest pride in knowing I’ve contributed something meaningful—whether it’s a favorite dish, a heartfelt conversation, or a comforting moment. Thank you for welcoming me into your community and allowing me to serve at your table. I’m truly honored.
